Abstract
Regular octahedral CrN single crystals with a maximum size of 75 μm were obtained by heating Cr-Ga-Na ternary melt at 850°C and 3 MPa of N2 for 200 h. X-ray powder and single-crystal diffractometry revealed that the CrN single crystals had the cubic rock-salt structure with the lattice parameter a = 4.1467(8) Å. The CrN single crystals exhibited antiferromagnetism below the Néel temperature of 290 K.
