Abstract

We investigate the critical behavior of the Ising model with nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor interactions on the square lattice by combining a cluster variation method and the coherent-anomaly method. We estimate the values of the critical indices ν and γ for several values of |J′|/Jfor J′<-0.5J, which show the breakdown of the universality.
