Critical current density in melt-processed filamentary (Nd, Gd)-123 superconductors

Abstract

The preparation of filamentary (Nd, Gd)-123 superconductors was examined by changing starting composition and heating condition of melt processing in flowing 1% O2 + Ar. High Jc value of more than 2.4 × 104 A/cm2 at 77 K and zero field and the high reproducibility were obtained for the filamentary (Nd0.5Gd0.5)-123 sample. The field dependence of Jc for the sample was measured and Jc value of more than 1 × 102 A/cm2 at 77 K and 8 T was detected to the sample.
