Abstract
The microfracture and creep deformation mechanisms in alumina and silicon carbide ceramics were investigated. The SiC and Al2O3 mechanisms of void formation, plastic deformation and grain boundary cracking were concerned with the macroscopic characteristics of creep deformation and its fracture life. Creep deformation and creep fracture life were affected by diffusion, dislocation motion, and subcritical crack growth.
