Abstract
The local variation of frictional properties, observed on metal deposited strontium compound surfaces, was studied with the help of a friction force microscopy. The interaction between the adsorbates and the substrate was considered as the origin of the friction contrast. The surfaces partially covered with Sr exhibited strong friction whereas the surfaces covered with Cu exhibited weaker friction.
