Characterization of cardiovascular dynamics on the basis of slow wave sleep

Abstract

We have investigated the dynamics of cardiovascular variables during physiological states such as sleep and wakefulness. The relationships among multivariate cardiovascular dynamics are obtained in terms of a matrix of Kullback-Leibler divergence between variables. The dynamics during slow wave sleep is found to be markedly consistent through records. The dynamics during slow wave sleep is suggested to be a basis of characterization of the autonomic regulations of cardiovascular system.
