Abstract

We have measured the temperature and magnetic field dependences of the elastic constants in CeTe. Both modes of C44 and (C11 - C12)/2 exhibit the characteristic softenings reflecting the level scheme Γ7(0 K) - Γ8(32 K). The rotational invariance effect has been found in the magnetic field dependences of the C44 mode.
