Auto-resonant peniotron oscillator (ARPO) for generation of millimetre and submillimetre waves

Abstract

A new configuration is proposed for the auto-resonant peniotron oscillator (ARPO) consisting of an oscillator part with a low output power and an amplifier part, and a report is given of the analytical results of its operational characteristics using some computer simulations. The results show that it should be possible to develop a multi-megawatt oscillator tube with an extremely high conversion efficiency, even in the millimetre and submillimetre wave regions.
