Abstract

5-Pyrimidyl alkanol with up to 97% ee was formed using chiral ephedrine immobilized on silica gel in the enantio-selective addition of diisopropylzinc to pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde in conjunction with asymmetric autocatalysis.
