Antiferromagnetism and crystalline electric field in stoichiometric YbP

Abstract

Neutron diffraction investigations of stoichiometric YbP prove the existence of long-range antiferromagnetic ordering of type II with an ordered magnetic moment μYb= 0.89(6)μB and a Néel temperature TN=0.66(1)K. The crysta l field level scheme was established by neutron spectroscopy to be γ68 (19 meV)-γ7 (43.3 meV).
