Abstract
We report the case of a patient with hereditary factor VII deficiency undergoing gastrectomy and cholecystectomy. We have found no prior report on the anesthetic management of a patient with this disorder in Japan. After preoperative PPSB loading test, the satisfactory levels of plasma factor VII, and adequate values of prothrombin time, thrombo test and hepaplastin test during and after operation were maintained by infusion of PPSB. His postoperative course was uneventful except three days of oxygen therapy. Pre and postoperative assessment of responsiveness to the replacement therapy is essential to assure the safety of anesthesia in a patient with hereditary factor VII deficiency.
