Abstract
The elastic recoil detection (ERD) analysis technique with 2.7 MeV He+ was used to determine the concentration of hydrogen in the surface film of an amorphous Fe-12at%Mo-18at%C alloy polarized in 1N HC1. The average composition of the surface film was evaluated using our previous data of the Rutherford backscattering and the nuclear reaction analyses. The differential cross section for the 1H(4He, 4He)1H reaction utilized in the ERD analysis was measured in the energy range from 1.9 to 3.4 MeV using a standard V2H sample.
