A semiconductor laser device simulator based on rigorous modal gain has been developed. With this simulator, lasing characteristics for Double Channel-Planar Buried Heterostructure (DC-PBH) lasers have been calculated. The results show that it is of great help for device structure optimization and mechanism investigation. Further, a cylindrical coordinate multilayer device simulator has also been developed for investigating recent surface-emitting electro-photonic devices. Preliminary new results of their electric and optical properties are shown and discussed.
