An NMR and Mössbauer study of iron-carbon martensite

Pulsed NMR of 13C and 57Fe nuclei in iron-carbon martensite have been observed and compared with 57Fe Mössbauer measurements. The hyperfine field distributions were explained by the octahedral-tetrahedral mixed site hypotheses and the formation of the local-ordered arrangement of C. DV-Xα calculations were performed for Fe6 and Fe6C clusters to compare with the results.
