Alkylene- or alkylenedithio-linked dimeric tetraselenafulvalenes

Novel dimeric-TSF donors with an alkylene or alkylenedithio single spacer group have been synthesized. The electrochemical investigation indicated that their monocationic and dicationic states are stabilized by through-space interaction attributable to a folded U-shape conformation. They formed several semiconductive charge-transfer complexes and radical cation salts.
