Abstract

A report on the alignment mechanism of nematic liquid crystal in a stretched porous polymer film was presented. The liquid crystal cells exhibited an electrically controlled birefringence effect. It was found that the string-like polymer areas induce liquid crystal molecular alignment from polarizing microscopy observations.
