Adiabatic Soliton Compression of Gain-Switched DFB-LD Pulse by Distributed Fiber Raman Amplification

Abstract

Using a dispersion-shifted single-mode fiber pumped by laser diodes as a distributed fiber Raman amplifier, we adiabatically compress transform-limited pulses generated by gain-switched distributed-feedback laser diode followed by linear compression and spectral window. Compressed TL pulses as short as 3.6 ps are obtained. The experimental results are supported well by the numerical results calculated by the beam propagation method.
