Abstract

Measurements of several solid oxide galvanic cells have been carried out to determine the oxygen partial pressure of air, the standard free energy of formation of Fe//xO, Bi//2O//3 and Sb//2O//3 and the thermodynamic quantities of liquid Bi-Sb alloys. The activities of antimony and bismuth were calculated at 973, 1073 and 1173 K. The activity of antimony showed slightly positive and negative deviations from Raoult's law, depending on concentration. The activity of bismuth showed a slight positive deviation from Raoult's law over the whole concentration range. The activity coefficients at infinite dilution were also calculated.
