Acceleration of micro-hole drilling by an azimuthally polarized laser beam under tight focusing condition

Abstract

We examined the laser micro-hole drilling using radially and azimuthally polarized beams for various types of metallic thin plates. We observed remarkable reduction of drilling time for the tight focusing of an azimuthally polarized beam.
