Abstract
The effect of the low frequency plasma observed in cuprate oxides on the ac Josephson effect is investigated. The new equation for the phase difference across the junctions barrier is derived, which includes the interaction between the Josephson current and the bulk plasma. The ac Josephson current excites the bulk plasma.
