A sign of superconductivity in Li-doped α-rhombohedral boron

    Abstract

    The reports on a superconducting transition in metal-doped C60 and Si20 solids have suggested a possibility of superconductivity in metal-doped B12 solids which is constructed from clusters having the same symmetry as C60 and Si20. Here we report a sign of the metal transition and superconductivity in Li-doped α-rhombohedral Boron, which consists of B12 clusters. The magnetic susceptibility dropped beginning at about 36 K.
