A poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PVP) derivative bearing a redox active osmium (Os) complex, Os(5,6-dmphen)2Cl-PVP, shows a selective binding to double-helical DNA chains, enabling the electrochemical determination of DNA in a picomolar level.
