Abstract

A new single-cell-gap transflective LCD using the OCBmode LCD compensated with hybrid-aligned discotic liquid crystal films and C-plates was designed to improve the response time and viewing-angle performance of transflective displays. We verified that a wide viewing angle and high contrast ratio could be achieved in both reflective and transmissive parts of the LCD.
