Abstract
A 5-inch flexible feiroelectric-liquid-crystal (FLC) display was developed In order to drive the display, an organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) array with a short channel length of 5/xm was fabricated. The fabricated OTFT array exhibited excellent performance such as a mobility of 0.3 cm2/Vs at a low operating voltage. We fabricated the flexible FLC device on the OTFT array using printing and lamination techniques. A field-sequential -color driving system with a flexible backlight unit was also developed and used to drive the display. Color moving images were successfully shown on the 5-inch display using an active-matrix driving technique of the OTFT.
