Distributed feedback (DFB) oscillation from a thin-film waveguiding evanescent dye laser was observed. Tunable nar- row-linewidth oscillations of only the TE0 or TM0 modes were obtained by using a single-mode glass waveguide with a rectangular Rhodamine-6G activated polyurethane film. The experimental results were in good agreement with the results of the theoretical analysis.
