N2 - A case of post-operative abdominal lymphocyst infection caused by vanB type vancomycin resistant enterococcus (VRE) in reported. A 27-year-old female was diagnosed as pregnancy with uterine cervical carcinoma and underwent Cesarean section and radical hysterectomy. After discharge, she developed a high fever which was diagnosed as a lymphocyst infection. Microbiological examination demonstrated the presence of vanB type VRE in the cyst fluid. Cyst cleaning and minocyclin injection were effective. This is the first case of VRE infection in Japan.
