160-Gb/s-600-km OTDM transmission using time-domain optical Fourier transformation

Abstract

We report error-free 160-Gb/s optical time-division-multiplexed transmission over 600 km with the ON-OFF keying and single-polarization format. We employed the time-domain optical Fourier transform technique using an optical phase modulator and a dispersion medium to eliminate waveform distortions caused by linear perturbations in a transmission fiber and improve the bit-error-rate performance.
