Abstract
A 160Gbit/s WDM (20Gbit/s × 8 channels) soliton data signal was successfully transmitted over 10000km through the use of in-line synchronous modulation and optical filtering. A four-segment dispersion decreasing configuration was used to reduce the soliton interaction and the dispersive waves. Polarisation scrambling and phase modulation at the input were also employed to extend the transmission distance.
