1.6-Gbps LED-Based Ultraviolet Communication at 280 nm in Direct Sunlight

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrated a gigabit-class LED-based optical wireless communication in the solar-blind spectrum regime. A 280-nm LED modulated by precoded PAM-4 achieved a 1.6-Gbps error-free transmission over a 1.5-m line-of-sight link even in direct sunlight.
