Abstract

The 1:2 mixed tetramethylammonium (NMe4+) (1) and tetramethylphosphonium (PMe4+) salts (2) of 2,5-dimethyltetracyano-quinodimethane (DMTCNQ) and its radical anion (DMTCNQ-.) were prepared, which exhibited both ferromagnetic behavior and high electrical conductivity at room temperature. The crystal structure of 2 showed a composition of two different DMTCNQ/DMTCNQ-. (1:1) and DMTCNQ-. columns, which have significant contact with each other.
