1000-channel SD-WDM light source employing optical multicarrier generation scheme using sinusoidal amplitude-phase hybrid modulation

Abstract

An optical multicarrier generation scheme based on sinusoidal amplitude-phase hybrid modulation that can be used in the S-, C- and L-bands is demonstrated. Employing a 12.5 GHz-spaced 320 to 360-channel multicarrier generator in each hand realises a 1000-channel super-dense (SD) wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) light source. Each carrier is showy to be able to support signal bit rates over 2.5 Gbit/s.
